How to Lace Boots: 6 Easy and Expert Ways:Lace Boots

So we have listed down the 6 easy and expert ways of how to lace boots perfectly. Make sure you follow all the steps properly.

1. Criss-Cross Standard:

Crisscross is the most common type of shoe lacing. Almost every shoe manufacturer delivers their shoe to their customer with this type of lacing.

Shoe stores typically have criss-cross standard lacing if you go to try something on. This is the easiest method.

It is important to go slow and ensure that every cross of the laces lies flat to create a clean-looking criss-cross lacing.

If you don’t straighten the lace then it will twist and look very bad. Now let’s have a look at its steps,

Step 1:

Each eyelet on the bottom of the shoelace should be threaded with the shoelace.

Tabs should be run from outside to inside. Both the sides should be equal so pull them upwards and equal them.

Step 2:

Overlap the tongue diagonally with the lace. The lace should be strung into the next eyelet starting from the top. On the other side repeat the exact same method.

Step 3:

While doing the same process go up to the ankle. It might be possible that you have excess shoelace so before tying it is better to wrap it around your ankle.

2. Army Method:Army

So as the name says this method is extremely popular and loved among military officers.

This allows for a lot of stretch in the boot leather, which is necessary for the military. Even if you are not a part of the army you can use this lacing technique.

It looks extremely wonderful with high contrast laces for example you can use this lacing style on your white shoes with black laces or black shoes with white laces.

Now let’s have a look at its steps,

Step 1:

First, count the eyelets on your shoes if the eyelets are even numbered then insert the lace through the bottom eyelet, and then move it from inside to the outside.

Do the opposite for odd numbers of eyelets, moving them outside to inside.

Both the sides should be equal so pull them upwards and equal them.

Step 2:

Across the tongue and under the next eyelet, run the lace diagonally. Repeat the exact same procedure for the other side.

On the bottom eyelet, you should now have a straight lace and a cross above it.

Step 3:

Using the outside eyelet as a guide, string the lace through the next eyelet. The opposite side should be done the same way.

Now repeat the second and third steps again and again until you reach up to the ankle.

3. Over-Under and Friction-Free:

There is something deceptively simple about this subtle twist on a classic criss-cross lacing.

Neither the shoelace nor the eyelet section rubs against each other, which results in less friction on the shoelace.

Two layers of crosses are present rather than a consistent pattern of crossings.

Whether you’re wearing sneakers or boots, this looks great.

Step 1:

The bottom eyelet should be played with from the outside when there are an even number of eyelets. Lace the bottom from the inside out if you have an odd number of eyelets.

Hold your laces vertically and make sure you have the same length of lace.

Step 2:

From the inside to the outside of the tongue, wrap the lace over the tongue and through the opposite eyelet on the opposite side.

This is for an even number of eyelets. Repeat the process on the other side by pulling the lace through.

Step 3:

Run the lace from the inside to the outside of the eyelet again, crossing diagonally. On the opposite side, repeat the process.

Now repeat the second and third steps again and again until you reach up to the ankle.

4. Paratrooper Lacing Method / Paratrooper Ladder:Paratrooper Lacing

If you want extra security then use this lacing style. It’s used by US Paratroopers because it’s extra safe and protected.

This lacing style will keep your feet and ankle firm and tight. Let’s see how can you achieve them;

Step 1:

Laces should be run from the inside out through the bottom eyelet. Hold your laces vertically and make sure you have the same length of lace.

Step 2:

In the next available eyelet insert your lace but do it vertically if you do this step horizontally then you can’t be able achieve the desired result. Your shoe laces will be inside your boots.

Step 3:

Using the two vertical eyelets that create a loop, cross the laces over the tongue and then through it.

As you run the lace through the loop you have already created, you shouldn’t be using an eyelet.

Step 4:

Using the same technique as step two, thread the shoestring through the next vertical eyelet.

Keep your order the same for example if you have started from left to right then go left to right and if you have started from right to left then go right to left.

Step 5:

Now repeat steps 3 and 4 again and again until you reach the last eyelet.

5. Rope Ladder:

The contrasting colors make this lace pattern look great. Additionally, it looks fabulous and is very secure.

You might try to add ankle support to your hiking boots by adding the rope ladder, or you might try it with combat boots for a rugged look.

Step 1:

Lace the shoe from the inside out through the bottom eyelet. Ensure that both sides have equal amounts of laces by holding them vertically.

Step 2:

The laces should be pulled across horizontally simultaneously. Make sure they are taut before you thread them through any eyelets.

Step 3:

Moving from the inside of the boot to the outside, lace the shoestring through the next vertical eyelet.

Step 4:

Now repeat the second and third steps again and again until you reach up to the ankle.

6. Italian Corkscrew:Italian Corkscrew

When you lace your boots this way, your tongue is covered with strong parallel bars.

It may take you a few attempts before you get the right length on either side since you’re only working with one end of the lace.

If your boots are normally too tight to slip on, this pattern is a great option for loosening the ankle.

Step 1:

Your shoelace should be looped through the eyelets on the bottom of the shoe. You should now find your lace inside your boot.

Step 2:

It is recommended that you only have five to seven inches of lacing on one side (depending on how long your boot’s ankle is).

Pass the short end of the lace through the eyelet at the top of the same side. Make sure you go from the inside to the outside.

Step 3:

String through the next horizontal eyelet with the lengthier half of the shoelace. Under the cross you’re creating, place the short end of the string.

Step 4:

Continue stringing the shoestring through the parallel eyelets on your boot with the long end of the lace.

Step 5:

Now repeat steps 3 and 4 again and again until you reach the last eyelet. Make sure you only use the long end.
